Larut Matang and Selama are rich places for you to visit. Taiping is a fine example. It was the first major town developed by the British, with a record 31 first in the country. The string of 'firsts' include the country's first swimming pool (the Burmese Pool), the first port, Port Weld and now known as Kuala Sepetang and the first Lake Gardens and Zoo.
Other firsts are the Perak Museum and Bukit Larut formerly know as Maxwell Hill has its own resort on the top of the hill. Batu Kurau and Bukit Gantang are famous for its durians. The Selama Waterfalls and Kuala Sepetang Mangrove Forest are the attractions frequented by visitors. Then there's shopping, golfing, and varieties of food to keep you happy during your visit.
